Maaike Grimm

Graduate Student

I am a visiting grad student from the Netherlands and during this internship, which is part of my masters program Biomedical Sciences, I am being co-advised by Cameron and AJ te Velthuis, while working together with Ben. Before coming here, I have performed research at the Virology Department of the Leiden University Medical Center, where I focused on elucidating the role of a SARS-CoV-2 protease on host immune evasion. I am interested in all things virology and now especially the possibilities of using Cas13 as a tool to detect and target viral RNAs. Outside of the lab, I can be found cheering on Princeton's sports teams, reading historical novels, exploring new cities or hanging out with my friends.
