PhD Student
Jake completed his undergraduate studies at Gettysburg College where he received his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. During his time at Gettysburg, Jake worked for Dr. Nikki Shariat investigating the functional biology of CRISPR-Cas systems in Salmonella. Jake then completed an enhancement year post undergrad working at the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. He is currently working on the labs of Cameron Myhrvold and Zemer Gitai where he aims to use Cas13 to probe and visualize mRNA’s and sRNA’s in bacteria. Jake has few hobbies but does enjoy tennis, water skiing, and cooking.
